Perhaps Vivo isn’t as well-known and popular in Australia, but recent innovations such as on-screen fingerprint scanner and Apex concept smartphones are indeed worth paying attention to. Vivo is now advertising its latest and greatest smartphone named Vivo V9 in Australia as a phone with the perfect shot and yes, perfect view due to its large and nearly bezel-less display, and 24MP front-facing selfies camera. The Vivo V9 is the first one to land here but absolutely not going to be the last. What are dishes out? Will it stand out in a crowded market? Let’s find out below!
Whether you love or hate, the notch is here to stay. That definitely doesn’t take away from how gorgeous Vivo V9’s display looks. The device boasts the biggest 6.3-inches LCD panel – well-supported by 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution and dishes out a 19.9 aspect ratio. The display is a joy to use, being surrounded by thick bezels enables it to accurately be the center of attention. The colours are vivid and vibrant, the viewing angles are great and there’s a plenty of sharpness.
The Vivo V9 houses a dual 16MP + 5MP rear sensors with a bunch of features i.e. FDAF, Dual-LED Flash, HDR, and Panorama, giving users some of the highest-resolution images on any smartphone. The front-facing camera is 24MP which is backed by an AI-powered beauty mode to detect your age, sex as well as your skin tone and texture to give you a great result. On paper, it sounds lovely, is it? Generally speaking, the quality of cameras is excellent and delivers plenty of sharpness, details and natural skin tones.
Performance-wise, Vivo V9 doesn’t disappoint its users. The device works perfectly without any hiccups, crashes or slowdowns. However, the device slows down a bit when working on multiple apps at once or while playing heavy games, but it’s alright given that the V9 is powered by Snapdragon 626 paired with 4GB of RAM (indeed a high-end chipset) but one targeted more towards productivity. Despite, the overall performance is butter smooth and most of the times gives the users a lag-free experience.
Storage and OS
To accommodate users’ files and data, Vivo V9 comes with a massive 64GB of onboard memory that can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card. Hence, users can save loads and loads of data on their smartphone without getting worried about space.
Talking about its software, just like all other recently released Vivo’s devices, Vivo V9 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Either it’s upgradable to Android P 9.0 or not, it’s a mystery.
The Vivo V9 Price in Australia starts from AU$430 to AU$450 which doesn’t sound as premium as similarly priced Oppo R11s, it doesn’t feel cheaper either. The V9 has some awesome advantages over its competition as it brings the first Android-powered device with a notch worldwide, an instead dubious difference, but a distinction nonetheless.
In terms of battery, Vivo V9 is backed by a 3260mAh non-removable cell which lasts around 9.5 hours with a moderate use. This is barely a full working day, is it? The battery seems a great improvement over 3000mAh in Vivo V7. We were expecting the battery life to a quite better as Vivo V9 doesn’t house a 2K display, neither a flagship processor.
