A Chinese smartphone brand just released its much-anticipated flagship smartphone namely Vivo Nex in Australia. It’s almost nothing but a gorgeous and big screen on the front. The Vivo Nex is an indication of future smartphone tech. The selfie pop-up camera is fun, whereas it’s on-screen fingerprint scanner is one of the best implementations of the technology to date. It has said that an on-screen scanner isn’t as good as conventional one, but overall works great. What else? Let’s find out below!
Vivo Nex Display
The Vivo Nex boasts a gorgeous 6.59-inches IPS LCD display – well-supported by 1080 x 2316 pixels resolution at 388 PPI for full HD experience. Performance-wise, it’s Ok. In bright sunlight, Vivo Nex doesn’t get quite as bright as you’d like, making outdoor visibility no better over most recently announced flagships. The white balance, however, is good, as is colour accuracy generally.
The Vivo Nex offers a Night Light Mode which is available in the settings and you can also adjust colour temperature to suit your blue light filtering needs.
Vivo Nex Camera
Perhaps the quality of a camera is one of the biggest surprises. However, it’s not better as compared to Google Pixel 2, but it’s pretty close race. On paper, Vivo Nex is equipped with a dual 12MP + 5MP rear sensor – supported by Phase Detection Autofocus and LED flash. The front side, on the other hand, is covered by an 8MP pop-up sensor which enables users to capture gorgeous moments with your nearest and dearest.
The camera also supports a bunch of dazzling features including Digital Zoom, Panorama, HDR, Geo-Tagging, Continues Shooting, Auto Flash, Touch to focus and more.
Vivo Nex Performance
The Vivo Nex is powered by Qualcomm’s SDM710 Snapdragon 710 coupled with a whopping 8GB of RAM. The Adreno 616 GPU, however, manages a graphical department pretty well. It performs well, posting around 290K in AnTuTu – of course, well-above Samsung Galaxy S9, OnePlus 6 and even killer Xiaomi Black Shark. Moreover, it also performed awesome in Geekbench 4, Vellamo and 3D Mark benchmarks.
Vivo Nex Storage and OS
The Vivo Nex is backed by 2 different storage tiers – 128GB and 256GB of onboard memory to accommodate your all kind of data and files with ease. Unfortunately, Vivo Nex doesn’t allow users to increase its onboard memory further as it lacks a microSD card slot.
As far as its software factor is concerned, Viv Nex runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Will it be upgraded to Android P 9.0? It’s something we don’t know about.
Vivo Nex Price
The Vivo Nex Price in Australia starts from AU$911 to AU$1000 making it a little bit expensive. But it’s worth considering when it comes to an extensive range of specifications. All these prices are valid in major Australian cities i.e. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Darwin, Adelaide, and others.
Vivo Nex Battery
The Vivo brings a 4000mAh cell inside Vivo Nex, which is a bit large, but may still struggle a lot considering how much screen has to be powering whenever we turn it on. Despite having a glass back, Vivo didn’t include wireless charging, but it does at least support fast charging feature which juices up the battery from 0% to 100% just in a couple of minutes.
