Brand history

Starting in 1983-84, Seymour Duncan pickups appeared on Kramer guitars as standard pickups along with Floyd Rose tremolo systems. They can now be installed on a variety of instruments, from Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, Charvel, ESP, Ibanez, Mayones, Jackson, Schecter, DBZ Diamond, Framus, Washburn and many more.

Seymour has a deep interest in guitars at a young age. After lending his instrument to a friend and recovering it with a broken transducer, Duncan decided to scroll it, using a rotating music player to navigate the sensor around his axis and wind the wire around his spool.

After this incident he was very inspired by the result, the sound of the guitar changed so much for the better that he continued to expand his knowledge of the pickups from guitarist-inventor Lester Polfus (Les Paul).

Developing his skills, Duncan got a job at the Fender Soundhouse in London, where he began working on instruments and simple flutes for many famous musicians such as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. After some time after returning home, he decided to set up a pickup scrolling service.  In 2012, Seymour Duncan was an honorary member of the Vintage Guitar Hall of Fame for his contribution to the music industry.

The company manufactures a wide range of guitar pickups in several formats, including Humbucker, Stratocaster, Telecaster and Acoustic, as well as effects pedals and bass drivers. The most popular of these is the '59, model JB and Model Pearly Gates.

Since 2013, the company has been producing pickups for 7- and 8-string guitars. A whole line of moving pickup trucks is also made. In addition to the us-made series models, Seymour Duncan also produces "Duncan Designed", mounted in Korea and designed for mid-range series guitars.

Seymour Duncan produced a small series of guitar amps in the 1980s. And 90s, but due to the high competition and lack of reputation as a manufacturer of amplifiers, this attempt did not develop. However, the speakers produced were highly rated by experts and experts of guitar equipment.

Over time, Seymour Duncan invented many innovations and now has several patented inventions. Some of them concern noise suppression in single-cove transducers. As an example, the Seymour Duncan P-Rails series, which has both single and humbucker sound in a single noise-cancelling sensor.
