The Samsung Gear s2 is smart watches formed by Samsung Electronics. The Gear s2 line is a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Gear. While comparing to the Galaxy Gear, the most important change made to the Gear s2 line was the substitute of Android with the Samsung-developed Tizen OS, promising enhanced functionality (Samsung's Health software and added music player) and battery life. The design of the watch itself was also revived with the move of its camera from the watch strips to the watch itself (letting users change their own bands), along with the addition of an optical heart rate sensor and infrared blaster. The Gear 2 contains the same hardware design to the real Galaxy Gear, though a home button has been added below the screen, and the device's 2-megapixel camera was moved from the band to the top of the watch itself, next to a newly added infrared blaster. This specific design change allows the strap to be user-replaceable. The device's processor was updated to a 1.0 GHz dual-core Exynos 3250 system-on-chip.
