Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition Review: Xiaomi’s High-end Phone with a Transparent Back
With the original Mi 8 launch, Xiaomi uncovered a limited edition model that provides a lot of excitement to their customers. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has the same design as the basic model. Overall, it generally seems similar to the Apple’s Apple iPhone X, but the manufacturer is rolling out an in-display fingerprint reader, similar to the Vivo X21mobile phone. Most importantly, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with a transparent back that exposes the phone’s interior very nicely. Xiaomi Mi 8 Price and Availability
The Mi 8 Explorer Edition rumoured price is CNY 3699. This version of Xiaomi Mi 8 become available in China from June 5 and is expected to be launched in July 2018 in other parts of the world. Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer edition release date in Australia is also unknown. And we are not 100% sure either the phone will launch in Australia or not.

Design and Display
As discussed earlier, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition mobile phone comprises of an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is almost identical to the recently released Vivo X21. But design wise, you can’t ignore its exceptional transparent back panel, which allows you to see some of the internals of the device.
It features a 6.21-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with DCI-P3 color gamut, 2248x1080 pixels of resolution and an 18:9 screen ratio. The smartphone has a notch at the top which houses the front camera, earpiece, as well as proximity and infrared sensors.
When it comes to performance, the upcoming Xiaomi device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC well supported by Adreno 630 GPU to achieve ultimate graphical based performance.
Unlike its standard edition, the Mi 8 Explorer edition is rumoured to come with only one storage option of 128GB along with 8GB of extended RAM. And most probably, you will be unable to upgrade its internal storage.

The Mi 8 Explorer Edition is powered by 3000mAh battery respectively, with Fast Charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 support. Although the battery is not as powerful comparing with the recent flagship phones, but still enough to support all the basic activities for a whole day.

Mi 8 Explorer edition runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 skinned on top. It is a dual SIM mobile phone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB OTG, 3G and 4G LTE. Sensors on the device include Compass, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope, and Barometer.
