Release date and Availability:

Without a doubt, Sony XZ2 Compact is one of the most powerful small phones available in 2018. It was announced at the MWC conference on 26th of February 2018. The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact both are available on sale in the U.K, as well as. However, Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact release date in Australia is expected in late April.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Prices:

The Xperia XZ2 compact priceis almost $649 (£549) and available to purchase in black, moss green, white silver, and coral pink colors. This is £171 less than its regular-sized equivalent, but £29 more than last year’s model originally launched at.

As far as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact price in Australia is concerned, this pocket-friendly device will cost you around AU$786 to AU$789 to buy outright. The XZ2 and XZ2 compact mobile phones are now available to buy on Best Buy's website, a little earlier than we were expected before.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is similar to the regular XZ2 in terms of design, only smaller. It comes with corners and sides, and slightly curved rear Just like Nokia 8 and HTC U11 Plus. Though it makes you feel like a little heavier compared to its non-Compact counterpart, it fits snugly in your palm.

The biggest difference is that the Compact doesn’t sport reflective glass rear of the XZ2 – instead, it comes with an anti-scratch and polycarbonate coating over its aluminum frame. The front, on the other hand, is still protected by Gorilla Glass 5and the entire thing is IP65/68 dustproof and water resistant.

Perhaps the most characteristic feature of Xperia XZ2 Compact is its screen. It’s the first small-form-factor smartphone featuring an 18:9 display and it works dazzlingly. The 5.0-inches FHD+ panel with 2160 x 1080 is a comfortable size and offering nice wide viewing angles.

HDR is being supported by a display which means it’s qualified of showing off the full potential of HDR videos and photos. It’s also able to upscale standard content whether it’s local or streamed online, helping you get brighter and deeper black colors and more details from just about any visual content.

A camera is one area where this device represents a major step forward from its predecessor. Its full-sized equivalent and comes with a 19MP back camera which can record 4K video footage with full 10-bit HDR processing. Furthermore, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) helps keep capture footage smooth and judder-free whereas 4K video recordings with HDR looks excellent with strong colors.

Sony has also worked on super slow motion which now offers the ability to record 960fps at a higher 1080p resolution at least for a few seconds. On the contrary, there’s a 5MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens ideal for group selfies and video calling.

Battery life is up to snuff. The battery here is 2870mAh and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact made it through 14 hours and 10 minutes of continuous video playback before needing to recharge. Isn’t it respectable result? Of course, Yes! You can comfortably get a day’s use out of a single charge with moderate use.

Sadly, you won’t find wireless charging, only USB-C, but you’ll definitely get a third of the battery back in just 30 minutes. And it goes from 0 to full in just a couple of hours.

Memory and Storage:

The phone is backed up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard memory which is expandable up to 400GB via microSD Card. Performance is quite silky and smooth all over the board. According to benchmark report, performance is almost identical to the larger XZ2 and very similar to Samsung Galaxy S9. Moreover, things are pretty clear and you can see that it’s also a huge jump up from the similar priced OnePlus 5T which runs last year’s Snapdragon 835 chip.
