LG Stylo 4 Review: A nice LG Budget Phone with 18:9 FullVision Display, 13MP PDAF Camera, a Stylus Pen, and more

The LG Stylo 4 is another budget smartphone by LG, which comes after the Stylo 3 and Stylo 3 Plus versions. Backed by a 6.2-inch TFT FHD+ display with 1080x1920 pixels of resolution, 18:9 screen ratio, and 390ppi of pixel density, it should be a decent choice for those who are searching for a budget handset that features a stylus pen. It is truly a cheaper alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Note devices. The Stylo 4 device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC clocked at 1.8 GHz frequency. The smartphone further offers a 13MegaPixels camera on the back and a 5MegaPixels wide-angle front camera for Selfies. In terms of storage, it comes with 2GB of inbuilt RAM, 32GB of expandable phone memory, and a 3300mAh non-removable battery. Android 8.1 Oreo is installed within the device.

Unlike LG Stylo 3, it comes with a 6.2-inch larger display. In terms of display technology, the manufacturer has changed the IPS panel of the Stylo 3 Plus and integrated a thin-film TFT-LCD panel on the new Stylo 4 phones. One reason for this is to introduce the FullVision technology that enables colors more vibrant and sharp. And these panels are cheap comparing with IPS LCD’s.

The new LG Stylo 4 comes with a flagship alike Full HD+ resolution of 2160x1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The new aspect ratio can also be seen on the Korean high-end LG V35 ThinQ phones.

The new Stylo 4 is powered by a Snapdragon 450 system on the chip. It is one of the more advanced processor chips of the recent times. And you will experience a faster speed, as it uses a 1.8Ghz frequency. The RAM is a serious issue here because users were assuming an upgrade in this department. But LG didn’t improve the Stylo 3’s 2GB RAM in its upcoming model.

Coming to the camera department, there is a 13MP camera sensor on the rear side with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) lens, Portrait mode, and an LED flash. Not only this, there is a 5MP camera sensor with a wide-angle lens for taking outstanding selfies. This mobile phone also includes Q lens integration to provide suggestions and information. In addition, Real Moment technology is being introduced to let users share their edits conveniently and ideas by writing over a captured photograph.

LG increases the battery capacity in the new Stylo 4 device. It has 3300mAh large battery with some productive features. It is backed by USB Type-C charging feature, so you will get faster charging as compared to micro-USB charging. The battery saving/power saving mode also returns in the upgraded version, so you can always use it if you find your battery in dark shell.

The Stylo 4 phone runs on Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and LG’s own UX 7.0 user interface on the top of the device. The LG stylus pen also returns here, upgraded and arguably better than its predecessors.
