Huawei Mate X (Foldable 5G Smartphone)

Alongside Samsung with its upcoming foldable smartphone named “Galaxy X”, the other front-runner now in a world of folding smartphones race is Huawei, a Chinese smartphone brand which is snapping at South Korean company’s heel. Both brands have all set to deliver the world’s first folding smartphone in 2019. And thanks to an awesome and leaked video, now we’ve got the best look yet at how does Huawei’s foldable smartphone “Mate X” looks like.

Release and Price

As mentioned above, Huawei is planning a foldable smartphone as CEO Richard Yu says, we are already working on it. Back in September 2018, Richard Yu also said, adding that it would be out within 12 months. Therefore August 2019 then? Or potentially even earlier.

The Huawei Mate X Foldable Smartphone release date in Australia is unknown, however, it’s our educated guess that it would appear at Mobile World Congress in February 2019. It’s most likely that it will start landing on shelves along with a successor to the Huawei P20 devices.

As far as Huawei Mate X Foldable Smartphone Price in Australia is concerned, it’s sure to be expensive whenever it lands. It’s just because foldable screens need lots of research, development, and manufacturing cash like any Technology. We’ve heard that it will set users back around AU$1123 but it’s also safe to expect a little hike in price.

Expected Design

2019 is coming closer day by day and things are getting clear more and more but how does it look like? A leaked video from TechConfigurations is giving us some idea that it will look quite like 2 smartphones stuck together and as usual, you’ll get a wide notch and a back camera. The video further reveals that it will fold outwards to unveil a hinged screen in a middle – one that you might use it for playing games.

We don’t know how much screen’s size will be there but given Huawei’s fondness for a large screen, it’s expected to be around 6-inches or more when the displays are folded out and laid flat.

Expected Specifications

It appears that Huawei will want to kit out Mate X with quite a few dazzling specifications. We’re expecting Huawei’s latest HiSilicon Kirin 980 Chipset or Kirin 990. Huawei’s own chips are normally capable and the update of 2019 will be no different.

The Chipset is aside for a short while, Mate X is going to be loaded with a decent amount of RAM (6GB + 8GB) and a handsome amount of battery to manage so many screens. The onboard memory is also expected to be pretty generous and might well be able to be augmented with Nano SD memory cards.

In terms of a camera, Huawei always loves to pack dual and even tri-camera configuration into its upcoming smartphones. The Mate X is also one of those handsets as Huawei would settle for a dual-lens set up in this case – possibly with a 24MP rating overall.

Expected Features

Based on several rumors and suggestions around, Huawei is trying to beat Samsung when it comes to launching a foldable smartphone, and it’s also keen on adding another marvelous feature – 5G. Moreover, Huawei is reportedly working with Mate X to be backed by waterproofing and wireless charging. However, plentiful compromises might have to be made in this way.

Let’s finish this off by saying that Huawei will so squeeze an on-screen fingerprint scanner into the overall foldable smartphone package. This feature is reportedly coming to Huawei Mate 20 so that it could well be on cards. All we can say is, it’s lining up to be one of the gorgeous smartphones of 2019.
