Acer Swift 7 Review: Hands On

Acer is going to introduce a beautiful and slimmest laptop ever at upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. The ultra-skinny Acer Swift 7 2018 looks extremely sleek, lightweight, and futuristic at only 8.9mm and 2.5lbs. According to Acer, it’s the world’s thinnest laptop device featuring all-black aluminum design, 14-Inch Full HD display with 1080p resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass NT protection. Not only the laptop is thin, but it offers a soft touch feel just like silk while sliding the fingers on it. And the performance is up to the task with seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Windows 10 OS, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, and 256GB SSD memory storage. The device is ultra-portable and always-connected, thanks to its 4G LTE support.

Acer swift 7 Release date, Availability, and Pricing:

The new Swift 7 (SF714-51T) actual release date is not announced yet, but it is expected to be available in most parts of Europe at the start of April 2018. Acer swift 7 release date in Australia will also be in April.

Pricing will start at 1699 US Dollar, which is way higher than its predecessor. Acer swift 7 prices in Australiawill be around AU$2159, but it’s not confirmed yet. And if you are going to buy this laptop in U.K, the initial listed price will be around £1599.

  • HD webcam
  • Digital Array Mic
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Windows Hello compatible fingerprint reader
  • Powerful Battery w/ up to 10 hours battery life

Body & Design:

The Swift 7 is one of the best Acer laptops to choose, measuring just 0.35’’ thin and looking lighter than some new smartphones including the latest Apple MacBook device, though the manufacturer has not disclosed the exact figure till now.

This laptop body is really eye-catching and stunning, covered in an all-black, unibody aluminum assembly with two sturdy hinges holding the display. Its design integrates the antenna into the unibody chassis. And when it comes to the display of the Acer Swift 7, it’s one of the best in business with 14’’ on the diagonal and dense narrow bezels. The IPS High Definition display lets colors to pop up and delivers wide display angles for content sharing.

Besides its ultra-slim and stylish body, the typing experience on the backlit keyboard is unmatched. However, Acer didn’t focus on the quality of its touchpad again.

The Swift 7 laptop by Acer is designed to deliver ultimate performance, thanks to its 7th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and the latest Windows 10 Version. 256GB of PCIe SSD storage provides enough space to keep all the important files and documents without adding any external resource, while 8GB of memory keeps multitasking responsive and fast. A fingerprint reader, on the other hand, gives highly protected and password-free sign-in through Windows Hello.

And you don’t need to worry about the battery either. Through up to 10 hours of battery juice, the Acer Swift 7 will keep you connecting and working all day long.

4G LTE Connectivity:

The Swift 7 2018 (SF714-51T) is the first Acer laptop with integrated 4G LTE connectivity via an Intel XMM modem that supports both eSIM and Nano SIM. Due to this, you can download and activate eSIM profiles conveniently. With its built-in powerful antenna, you can connect with a super-fast internet while on the go.

Acer Swift 7 Pros:

  • Thinner and luxurious design
  • Stunning larger display w/ extra-wide touchpad
  • Built-in 4G LTE connectivity

Acer Swift 7 Cons

  • Older processor tech inside
  • Doesn’t support touch
  • Bottom-oriented webcam
  • Pricing is too high compared to today’s model
  • SD Card Reader not available

Our Verdict:

If you can bear the higher price and few trade-offs, then you should go for the new Acer Swift 7 laptop in 2018. Especially when it comes to the ultra-portability and style, the Swift 7 is at its best. The display is larger and luxurious than ever, but to keep the same dimensions as before the manufacturer has moved the webcam below the screen display. The laptop is ultra-thin ever, without any doubt; however, the Intel Y Series processor chip is relatively weaker as compared to the 8th-Gen Intel CPU, we have not in a position to benchmark it till now, and hence we can't speak much about how it'll perform in different circumstances.
