Amazon has already launched more new products than you might expect but has not forgotten the Kindle lineup. Those looking for a new digital reader should consider the new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2018 in Australia.

Price and Availability

The Kindle has been around for 11 years now and is the 10th generation of the reader. For the Paperwhite, this 2018 model is the 4th generation having been updated in 2015. It may be a little more expensive, but several improvements are worth it.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2018 price in Australia ranges from 150 to 250 AUD. Here below, we have enlisted some of the stores from where you can buy this E-Reader.

After so many years and developments in other categories such as phones, you might think that no one needs a single-use device, such as an eReader. However, Amazon was the bestselling day ever for Kindle on Prime Day in July 2018.

Waterproof IPX8

Amazon has, therefore, made some changes to its flagship reader to keep the top of the podium. The main one is water resistance with an IPX8 certification. It is, therefore, possible to take the Kindle Paperwhite (2018) to the pool or the beach without fear of accidental drowning.

Reduced weight

Another welcome development: the American electronic reader is lighter, going from 204 grams to 183 grams. It is not the lightest machine on the market, but this weight loss treatment nevertheless plays in its favor.

Screen & Storage

Amazon is not changing its screen, which retains the same specifications as three years ago. So much the better, the slab was already one of the best on the market with a definition of 300 PPI for a size of 6 ″. We can, therefore, read without seeing a single unsightly pixel.

The reading light also retains its improved front lighting. The slab is whiter while still providing the same uniform lighting as before. In short, it is an exemplary screen that will ensure a very comfortable reading.

E-Ink Carta screen retains its resolution of 300 PPI, the storage is doubled, thus going from 4 to 8 GB on the new model. The best-equipped versions even offer 32 GB. However, still no micro-SD port.

Connectivity

The connection is still so expensive, offering only a micro-USB port. No Bluetooth, no micro-SD. These elements present among competitors remain absent subscribers.

Design

Amazon is changing course with its new reader. If the shape remains the same, the screen is now completely smooth, probably to ensure the water-resistance of the whole. This new look also has the advantage of facilitating cleaning, no dust getting lodged under the electronic ink tile.

Below the screen, the Kindle logo is now more visible than before. We will see again this year that the American giant opts for 100% touchscreen, ignoring the physical buttons. For my part, I find it a shame, the buttons providing additional comfort when reading.
